Dear Friends,

Yesterday’s “The Big Give”, sponsored by Red Wings, MVP Health, and Channel 10 WHEC, was an absolute success.

Together, our community donated more than 3,500 pounds of food to help nourish those who visit our food pantry, the individuals we meet through our Street Outreach Program, and the guests who stay at House of Mercy and are served breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

We were deeply moved by the generosity we witnessed. Groceries arrived straight from local stores, still in their bags. Food was pulled from people’s own pantries and tables and brought down to Innovative Field. The care and thought behind every donation truly took our breath away.

We were equally grateful for the many volunteers who showed up not only with groceries, but with time and energy. Some arrived early with food and then stayed for hours opening car doors, carrying heavy bags to the tables and loading our van. Despite the cold, every task was done with smiles, warmth, and good cheer.

Thank you to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, St. John the Evangelist Church, and McQuaid Jesuit for helping spread the word and encouraging volunteers to step forward. Thank you to every Greater Rochesterian who gave so selflessly.

We are strongest when we are united. We care for our neighbors, especially those who are too often overlooked, and this week our community showed exactly what that care looks like in action.
